Remembering Rene Auberjonois

As an actor, his behavior was always compelling and mercurial.

His physicality and movement on stage was effortless and breathtaking.  He was a brilliant interpreter of Moliere and his performance as Tartuffe, which I had the great pleasure of witnessing, remains indelibly etched in my memory.

Some years ago, I had the privilege of directing Rene in a television production of Arthur Miller’s Incident at Vichy, and his portrayal of The Actor, like all of Rene’s work over the years, was meticulous, vulnerable, and always engaging.

Malgosia and I extend our deepest sympathies to his dear wife, Judith, and his entire family.  Rene will always be alive in our hearts, and we thank him for gracing us with his enormous talent and the warmth of his humanity.
